Electronic equipments and furniture worth Rs.10 lakh was gutted in a fire that broke out in a private company situated on the first floor of a commercial complex in R.T. Nagar on Saturday.

There was no injured reported in the accident.

Fire and emergency service personnel suspect that the mishap could be due to electric short circuit, though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The incident came to light when few passers-by identified as Santhosh noticed a thick smoke emanating from the building. He immediately raised an alarm and informed the Fire control room. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot and put our the fire after three hours of operation, the fire and emergency officals said.

“The fire largely spread through the false ceiling of a couple of rooms due to the electronic items and furniture which caught fire which led to a dense smoke billowing from the first floor,” said a fire official.
