Mahadev had pushed an AAP activist during a membership drive on Saturday

The HSR Layout police have arrested a 35-year-old electrician, Mahadev, for assaulting a member of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) during their membership drive near Bellandur on Saturday.

Mahadev was on the way to purchase electrical goods at around 5.30 p.m. near Central Mall on Outer Ring Road, Bellandur, on his motorcycle.

According to police, Mahadev noticed a traffic snarl near Bakasura Hotel where members of the AAP were holding a membership drive. Mahadev objected, asking the members to remove the table kept on the roadside to make way for traffic.

Heated argument ensued and in the melee, Mahadev pushed one of the members. Following this, Mahadev fled the scene, police said.

Meanwhile, one AAP member, who had recorded the exchange on his phone, handed it to the HSR Layout police along with the complaint. The police booked Mahadev for causing public nuisance.
