The stage is set for election to the posts of president and vice-president of Kolar taluk panchayat on Friday. Janata Dal (Secular) has 13 members and Congress 12 members in the 25-member body.
Though JD(S) enjoys a simple majority, the Congress is reportedly making efforts to secure power by attracting some members from the opposition camp. The president’s post is reserved for Scheduled Caste and vice-president, Backward Classes-A woman.
