P.K. Devadas, Dean and Director of Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), said cadaveric organ donations can be encouraged only if medico-legal procedures are eased.
“Karnataka is the only State where post-mortems are done round the clock. We complete the post-mortem within two hours after the organs are harvested, thereby avoiding the hassle of a long wait for the donor family,” he said, adding that round-the-clock post-mortem facility should be made in hospitals across the country where organs are retrieved.
