State secretary of Democratic Youth Federation of India B. Rajashekaramurthy has warned the State government that DYFI will stage a dharna in front of the Chief Minister’s house in Bangalore on October 22 demanding job security, regularisation of services of guest lecturers and Rs. 25,000 salary for the guest lecturers.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he alleged that the State government is cheating the youth appointing them as guest lecturers but not giving them job security and a salary according to UGC norms. Mr. Rajashekara-murthy said that 10,652 guest lecturers are working in 365 government degree colleges.
A salary of Rs. 8,000 is being paid to those who have not passed UGC or NET and Rs. 10,000 to those who have passed UGC or NET once at the end of the academic year, he said. On Rajyotsava day, they will sport a black cloth on duty as a mark of protest.
Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande has invited them for talks on Thursday, Mr. Rajashekaramurthy said and added that a delegation under the leadership of writer Baragur Ramachandrappa will meet him.
