'Scholarship amount not remitted to SC/ST students’ accounts'

The district unit of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) has threatened to stage a black flag demonstration on Independence Day if a FIR is not filed against Social Welfare Department officials who have “failed to remit” scholarship amount to SC/ST students’ accounts.

The students belonging to SC and ST communities are facing problems as their scholarships for the academic years 2014-15 and 2015-16 were not remitted yet. ‘Indifference’ on the part of officials concerned is responsible for this situation, the DSS said. “This is violation of the law and hence FIR should be lodged against authorities concerned and they should be arrested,” DSS district organising convener H. Rajappa said in a release. Students, parents and DSS activists will participate in the protest.

Providing infrastructure in the hostels, and supply of proper food are other demands of the organisation.
