A security guard who was seen trying to break open an ATM kiosk in SBI Colony, Ulsoor, was beaten up by members of the public and handed over to the police.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, when some passersby who saw him kicking and trying to break open the kiosk, assumed he was trying to steal money.

The security guard, later identified as Raju Bista, in his late twenties, was in an inebriated state and may not have been attempting to steal, police said. He has sustained minor injuries and is being treated at a private hospital.
