Drunk lorry driver runs over rider

An inebriated driver of a brick-laden lorry ran over a rider, killing him instantly on the Devarabeesanahalli flyover Monday morning.

Whitefield resident Prashanth Kumar D. (25), a civil engineer with a private firm, was on his way to to Mallathahalli around 7.45 a.m. when his vehicle was rear-ended. The impact sent him sprawling to and he was run over.

Passersby collared the driver, Hanumaiah (32), and handed him over to the HAL Airport Road traffic police who said the alcometer indicated he was over the limit by 10 times.

Found dead in sump

A man reported missing was found dead in a water sump in his residential building complex in off Beerasandra Main Road in Devasandra Monday morning.

K R Puram police said Siddaraju (42), a lathe operator, had been missing since Sunday night when he stepped out for a walk. After a frantic search, his wife found his body floating in a deep sump the next morning. Police suspect he may have been inebriated.
