An alert BMTC bus driver prevented a tragedy when the brakes of his bus failed at a busy junction on Lalbagh Road in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. The driver, Umesh, was on his way to the depot after duty hours, when he realised that the brakes were not working.

He immediately steered the bus towards the footpath bringing it to a halt. The bus hit a signboard and an electricity pole before coming to a halt. The police said that Umesh did a good job. The Ulsoor Gate traffic police have registered a case.
