Driver drowns while trying to wash car

A 30-year-old driver met a watery grave in Kadiganahalli lake near Chikkajala, late on Thursday evening.

The police said that the deceased has been identified as Farooq Shah, a cab driver a native of Kunigal. On Thursday evening, he came to Bengaluru along with three friends for personal reasons and went towards Kadiganahalli Lake.

Shah decided to wash his car and took the vehicle near the lake-bed. As he stepped into the water and ventured a little further, he started drowning.

His friends, who were sitting a little away from the lake-bed, noticed Shah drowning and started shouting for help. Passers-by tried to rescue Shah, but in vain. They informed the police who fished out the body with the help of Fire and Service Emergency personnel.

A case has been registered in Chikkajala police station.
