The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has ordered closure of the preschool in Bellandur where children were sexually assaulted, allegedly by the school supervisor.
The officials have instructed parents, whose children are admitted to the school, to shift their children to other registered preschools in the neighbourhood.
The department noted that the school authorities had not registered their pre-primary classes with the department. The Block Education Officer on Friday also stated the school had not provided adequate safety. The mother of one of the children who was allegedly sexually assaulted said she was happy that the school management has been penalised and pulled up by the DPI.
The incident came to light after the parents of a three-and-half-year-old filed a complaint against Manjunath, the school supervisor. Soon after, six other parents came forward and registered police complaints alleging that their children, too, had been sexually assaulted.
