The former External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Thursday said politicians should not take criticism personally and must develop the habit of giving up political rivalry once elections were behind them.
Speaking after releasing a book titled ‘The Talking Shop’ written by the former MP A.H. Vishwanath, Mr. Krishna said, “There are no permanent rivalries in politics. But we continue to criticise and develop political hatred towards our rival candidates throughout our life.”
Recalling the ups and downs in his political career, Mr. Krishna said he got promotions in politics soon after electoral defeats in the past. Politicians should be ready for handshake, and developing rivalry throughout their life is not good, he said. Mr. Vishwanath was a Minister in the S.M. Krishna government.
Slogans raised
Just before the book release, a person identified as Shivaramu, said to be a Kuruba leader and loyalist of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, raised slogans against Mr. Vishwanath. Soon, supporters of Mr. Vishwanath dragged Mr. Shivaramu out of the venue. The book release function went on peacefully.
