Two donors have come forward to give away 14 computers to the Government Higher Primary School at Kallambella in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district. This is following a report published in The Hindu on June 4 about the school where seats are in great demand.

Canara Bank, Sira, Tumakuru district, has come forward to give four computers, while an advocate Ramesh Bettaiah of Tumakuru district has said he will donate 10 computers to the school, said Anil Kumar D., school’s headmaster. He said he will collect the computers from the two donors on Tuesday.

“We are still admitting students to the school. As on June 13, the total strength of the school (from LKG to seventh standard) is 540,” he said. Last year, the student strength was 157.

The sudden increase in the number of students is after the school decided to offer classes in computer education, spoken English, drawing and music. These new classes are attributed to the collective efforts of the headmaster, teachers, the school development committee and officials concerned.
