Refusing to accept the conclusion of the Central Bureau of Investigation into the death of IAS officer D.K. Ravi in 2015, his mother on Friday alleged that she had not been given supporting documents, along with the investigation report, that would enable her to seek legal recourse.
“I have been asking for supporting documents from the assistant commissioner of Bengaluru South, who is also the divisional executive magistrate,” Gowramma, mother of Ravi, told reporters. She disagreed with the conclusion of the CBI, which termed the death as 'suicide for personal reasons’, and wanted to approach the high court to prove lapses in the investigation.
She alleged that the investigation agency had not recorded her statements properly. “I spoke to CBI officers for three hours, but nothing has been recorded. If I get the documents, I will approach the high court and point out lapses,” she said, alleging that influential people conspired against her son. Further, she said, “This is not suicide. I demand that the body be exhumed and a fresh post mortem be done.”
According to advocate Devaraj, who accompanied Ms. Gowramma, despite submitting an application 20 times, the relevant documents had not been given.
To a question whether she would enter politics, Ms. Gowramma said, “I am not interested though people in Kolar have been pressuring me to contest. I will think about it later. If there is a possibility of getting justice through the political system, one of the family members will contest. Or else, we will help (politically) those who help us get justice.”
