Disabilities Commissioner to meet officials

The newly appointed Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Prasanna Kumar Pincha, arrived in Bangalore on Friday on a three-day visit.

Mr. Pincha is scheduled to hold a review meeting with principal secretaries and secretaries of various government departments on the implementation of schemes for disabled welfare in the State on Saturday. Later in the day, he will also be meeting Chief Secretary S.V. Ranganath.

K.V. Rajanna, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, told reporters that Mr. Pincha will also preside over a meeting with senior officials of the Department of Women and Child Development, besides the Department for the Empowerment of Differently Abled and Senior Citizens.

A first

Mr. Rajanna said it was for the first time in the country that a person with a disability has been appointed as the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities in the country.
