Panic gripped the resident of Malagala in Annapoorneshwari Nagar when a diesel-filled tanker lost control and slipped into a ditch on Tuesday morning.

Though the tanker driver and his assistant came out safely, the fire and emergency service personnel and the jurisdictional traffic police had to struggle for over four hours to pull the tanker out.

The incident occurred around 11.30 a.m. when the tanker carrying over 12,000 liter of diesel, moving from Sumanahalli flyover towards Mysuru Road, lost control and slipped into a 15-feet deep ditch.

Passers-by alerted the control room following which the police along with the fire personnel rushed to the spot and summoned a crane to pull the tanker out.

Luckily the truck was not damaged in the incident and no one was injured, a senior police officer said.
