Two men allegedly waylaid a detective agency's car near the Reva College of Engineering in Bagalur on the outskirts of the city on Tuesday night and made away with Rs. 2 lakh from the firm's employees.

According to the victims, who suffered minor injuries in a scuffle with the robbers.

Akbar Pasha Shafiulla and Fayaz Ahmed, employees of Globe Detective Agency in Koramangala, were heading towards their workplace with the cash when they were accosted in deserted area. The suspects took the victims by surprise and snatched the cash bag kept on the back seat of the car, the Bagalur police said.

Though the incident occurred at 9 p.m., the complaint was filed only at 11 p.m.

Caught red-handed

A spirited public chased an alleged chain snatcher who was fleeing with a woman's chain and handed him over to the Banashankari police on Tuesday night.

The police recovered the chain, worth around Rs. 1.3 lakh from Harish (37).

The police said the suspect snatched the chain from Vani. S. Bhat, who lives near 14th Main in Padmanabhanagar, at 8.30 p.m. after pretending to ask for an address.

However, Ms. Bhat was soon in hot pursuit, calling out to passersby to help. An obliging public gave chase and caught the man.
