The city’s urban planners, in the last stage of finalising the Master Plan 2031, are also in a dilemma about whether to draw the master plan with or without the PRR.
“The Peripheral Ring Road accounts for a major addition or deletion in the making of the master plan and to decide on the land use pattern in the city. In the eventuality of the city having the PRR, the areas along the road will be earmarked for residential and commercial exploitation for the next 15 years. If the project is dropped, the BDA may take a final call and decide whether to go back to using the land for agriculture or allow for residential development,” a source in the BDA said.
While the master plan was to have been submitted to the government on April 30 this year, sources said that it may take another two to three months to complete the draft plan.
However, the confusion over PRR could further delay the process, the sources added.
