A 30-year-old private firm employee was on Monday arrested on the charge of causing death due to negligence. He was involved in an accident in which his uncle, who was riding pillion with him on a two-wheeler on the night of December 31, was killed.

The deceased is Jagannath Rao, a 55-year-old railway employee, who had come from Bhadravathy to celebrate New Year with relatives in Bengaluru. According to Kamakshipalya traffic police, he was riding with his nephew Nishanth Rao when the latter lost control near Nagarabhavi Circle and rammed head on into an autorickshaw.

Passers-by rushed them to a near-by hospital where Jagannath succumbed to injuries. During the course of the investigation, police found that Nishanth was drunk and riding in a rash and negligent manner. They waited for him to recover from his injuries before arresting him. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
