Learning lessons from the recent question paper leakages, the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has directed the deputy commissioners (DCs) of all the districts to install CCTV cameras in the district treasuries, ahead of the II PU chemistry re-exam on April 12.
Ajay Seth, Principal Secretary of the Department of Primary and Secondary Education, on Thursday held a videoconference with the DCs and reportedly spoke on the precautionary measures that had to be initiated to avoid a question paper leakage.
The lack of CCTV cameras at district treasuries was criticised by Criminal Investigation Department sleuths, who found it difficult to obtain vital information when they visited some of the treasuries as part of the investigation into the paper leakage case.
“Question papers will be dispatched to the districts two days prior to the examination and the DCs have been asked to ensure complete safety to ensure that there is no scope for a leakage,” one of the DCs who attended the meeting said.
The chemistry exam conducted on March 21 was cancelled after it was found that the question paper had leaked. The re-exam, scheduled for March 31, was also cancelled following another leakage.
