Day after teacher faints, colleagues stage protest

Several teachers from a prominent city school came out in support of their colleague and staged a protest on Thursday, alleging harassment by the principal.

On Wednesday, a teacher had collapsed on the school premises and had to be hospitalised after she — along with a few of her colleagues — was summoned by the principal to explain why they had not stayed back to work last Saturday.

Many students also joined the protest. The teachers, who met the school management to explain their grievances, demanded that a new principal be appointed. “The principal who was appointed a few months ago is very harsh,” a teacher said.

No police complaint has been filed. The principal was unavailable for comment.
