Daughter-in-law of deceased member wins TMC by-poll

Congress candidate Sharada emerged victorious in the by-elections to the Bangarpet Town Municipal Council. The election to Sanjay Gandhi Nagar ward (ward No. 7) was held on July 10, following death of councillor Mugilamma of the Congress. The party fielded Mugilamma’s daughter-in-law Sharada.

In the results declared on Wednesday, Ms. Sharada secured 556 votes, defeating her BJP rival Gowri by a margin of 156 votes. Gowri managed to get 400 votes.

Led by Bangarpet MLA K.M. Narayanaswamy, the Congress workers took out a victory procession in the town today.
