On Sunday, enthusiasts who participate in the Bharath Electronics Limited (BEL) Officers Club Cyclofest will get to pedal their way through a green township and brush shoulders with a few celebrities.

The ‘open day’ in the BEL Township will welcome cyclists to experience six kilometres of quiet, tree capped, serene roads. Apart from the cycling event, contests, games and prizes at the end of the day will keep participants engaged. The top prize is a Firefox bike.

Cyclofest 2014 is an awareness initiative taken up by BEL Officers Club and Bangalore Cyclists Group (BCG), in association with Firefox and 2K11 Youth Association, to spread the joy and benefits of cycling. The main focus of the ride is to promote cycling as an effective means of transport for the masses that will not only reduce emissions but also increase the overall physical activity of a person, which in turn will keep them healthy and active.

Cyclofest is being organised as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Bharath Electronics Limited Ambedkar Society. Among those expected to participate are BEL Director M.M. Handa. The Hindu is the media partner for the event.
