Customs officer arrested for accident

Hit two bike-borne men

A 21-year-old biker was killed and the pillion rider injured when their motorcycle was knocked down by a car driven driven by a Customs officer on a service road near the Yelahanka Air Force Station on Thursday morning.

The deceased, Sahadeva Reddy, was a native of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. He was a contract employee with the IAF and was on his way to work with his colleague Sunil.

The accused, Ezhil Venu, is a Customs officer at Kempegowda International Airport. He was driving home after his night shift when he hit their bike. Police suspect him of dozing off at the wheel.

Passers-by shifted the injured men to a private hospital where doctors declared Sahadeva dead on arrival.

The Yelahanka traffic police arrested Venu on the charges of death due to negligence, and rash and negligent driving.
