“Yahin woh jagah hain (this is the place)” were the words exchanged by a few friends as they walked past Coconut Grove on Church Street on Tuesday, pointing to the place where the blast occurred two days ago.
A part of the road that was earlier cordoned off was opened to traffic around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
However, the crowd was pretty thin on Church Street, which is usually bustling with activity. As many as 50 police officers have been deployed in and around Church Street, M.G. Road and Brigade Road.
Shekhar, the unit manager of Amoeba Sports Bar said that restaurant and store owners of the area were on Tuesday called to Cubbon Park police station for a meeting regarding installation of CCTV cameras and to ensure that they were functioning. “Around 50 shop owners had come for the meeting to discuss the CCTV cameras and security measures with the police. The CCTV cameras have captured the scene outside on the day of the blast and the footage has been handed over to the police,” he said.
The crowd, which usually exceeds 1,000 people at Amoeba during the day stopped at 210 around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. “People may think twice before coming this side, given the situation. It might take a few days,” Mr. Shekhar said.
