Exquisite handicrafts, jewellery and textiles from different parts of India will be available for art collectors in the city from Monday.

The Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation (KSHDC), known for its handicrafts showroom Cauvery, is organising an exhibition at Safina Plaza here. The event is being sponsored by the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Union Ministry of Textiles.

About 60 artisans from Karnataka and other parts of the country are participating in the event, a release said. They will be provided with retail-marketing experience as products are directly sold to customers without any intermediary, the release added.

Training

KSHDC's Cauvery showrooms are popular for the intricately carved artefacts by master craftspersons of Karnataka. The corporation imparts training for them in technical and design development from time to time, helping them upgrade their skills and enabling them to create works that will meet the changing tastes of buyers.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by actor Roopashree. KSHDC chairperson Lalitha Rani Sreerangadevarayalu and KSHDC director S.K. Ravi Kumar will participate. The event will be on at Safina Plaza till January 16.
