The organisers of the fifth Bangalore International Film Festival (Biffes) are going all out to attract larger audiences. With as many as 1,500 visitors already expected (900 registrations at the counters alone in four days) from a wide range of backgrounds, the latest offering is daily passes to cater to those who cannot attend all the days between December 20 and 27.
Those opting for these daily passes have to pay just Rs. 100 to select the day when their favourite films are screened at the festival organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy.
Announcing this at a press conference here on Tuesday, Biffes’s artistic director H.N. Narahari Rao said he was satisfied by the response as 1,500 exceeds the 1,300 seating capacity.
The daily passes will be available at the counters at two of the festival venues — Fame Lido and Garuda Mall.
A comprehensive book with the synopses of all the films being screened was released on the occasion.
Prakash Belawadi, one of the organisers, said a number of seminars and master classes, apart from special screenings at Freedom Park, had been arranged this time.
N.R. Vishnukumar, festival executive director and Director, Department of Information, added that the festival would have an exhibition of posters, film equipment and photos.
