November 21, 2014 03:50 pm | Updated 03:58 pm IST - Bengaluru:

The Bengaluru police have arrested a 20-year-old construction labourer who allegedly attempted to rape an eight-year-old girl in his house on Sunday.

The incident came to light when the victim, daughter of construction labourers in T.Hosahalli, complained of uneasiness on Thursday. The couple took the victim to a local doctor who examined her and found some bruises on her private parts and suspected that she was sexually assaulted.

Based on this, the parents complained to Bagalur police who nabbed Vasanth, a neighbour of the victim who works in a brick kiln.

The police said that the accused lured the victim into the house while she was playing outside on the pretext of buying her snacks and attempted to rape her. When the girl started to scream, he let go of her. The girl returned home and did not complain until she developed health complications on Thursday.

The accused has been detained for further questioning.
