Constable’s wife refuses to accept CM’s medal

Mahadevswamy was killed while on duty, in 2015

It was an embarrassing moment for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, when the widow of a reserve police constable initially refused to accept the Chief Minister’s Medal here Saturday.

City Armed Reserve (north) police constable Mahadevswamy, a native of Chamarajanagar, was killed after a bullet was fired at him accidentally in 2015. His wife, Chaitra, who attended the programme with her one-year-old child, went on to the dais but refused to receive the medal, stating that the family is suffering financially due to non-payment of dues. She accepted the medal only after the DG and IGP assured her the matter would be resolved.
