A 27-year-old police constable was killed on the spot when his motorcycle collided with a truck that had suddenly stopped at Adakamaranahalli on Tumakuru Road on Monday.

Janardhan V., a resident of Binnamangala near Nelamangala, was on his way home when the accident occurred, the police said. The truck driver, who was allegedly in an inebriated condition, applied sudden brake on National Highway 4.

The police said Janardhan, who was recently transferred from Seshadripuram Police Station to Mahalakshmi Layout Police Station three months ago, used to commute daily from the city to Nelamangala, which is over 20 km away. He was married recently.

The Madanayakanahalli police have arrested the driver for death due to negligence and drunk driving.
