A police constable attached to the State Reserve Police Force is in the dock for allegedly beating up a woman, a director of a security company.

In a complaint, the woman, Manjula Naidu, alleged that a security guard, Parameshwar, who was working in her TOP security services company, recently quit without intimation. He then called her on Sunday demanding salary; Manjula asked him to come to office the next day.

On Monday, Parameshwar, accompanied by his relative Gangadhar, a constable attached to KSRP, and three others went to the office and demanded his salary. Angry words were exchanged, even as Manjula demanded an explanation and asked for the ID card and uniform provided by the company. The arguments took an ugly turn as Gangadhar allegedly attacked her and beat her up.

Meanwhile, K.J. Naidu, managing director of the company and also husband of the victim, alerted the Rajgopalnagar police, who rushed to the spot and detained Gangadhar and others.

Manjula has been shifted to a private hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sandeep Patil said closed circuit television camera footage of the incident would be verified and action taken.
