The Congress party’s stand is to respect the post of the Prime Minister and it has a tradition of doing that, said former Union Minister and Chickaballapur MP M.Veerappa Moily here on Sunday.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of a programme organised by Murugha Math in the city, Mr Moily said the party high command had not directed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to stay away from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme scheduled to be held in Tumkur on September 24.

At the party’s executive committee meeting on Saturday, a decision to mobilise party workers to PM’s function had been taken.

Recalling that BJP workers had shouted slogans against the Chief Ministers of Harayana and Maharashtra when they had participated in programmes attended by the Prime Minister in the recent past there, Mr Moily said such things had to be condemned.
