Complaint filed against Police Commissioner

In an unusual situation, thePolice Commissioner M.N. Reddi, who is seen as being pro-active in addressing issues on social media, finds himself at the receiving end. Using the newly launched First Information Report (FIR) centre, a city-based social activist filed a complaint against him for not acting on a traffic-related issue.

Jagan Kumar Y., a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar, in his complaint filed on Thursday has alleged that despite repeated complaints to the authorities against the haphazard parking of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses near the busy bus depot on Hebbal Road, causing major traffic snarls every day, no action has been initiated.

The complaint, which has been registered under the non-cognisable offence category, also names Additional Commissioner of Traffic B. Dayanand and Deputy Commissioner S. Girish.

Mr. Kumar alleged that besides complaining to Hebbal traffic police, he had also brought it to the notice of the Police Commissioner through a petition and posting the complaint on the Police Commissioner’s Twitter handle.

Reacting to the complaint, Mr. Reddi said that the issue would be addressed soon.

“The reason for filing the complaint is to draw the attention of the authorities concerned. “ I am very happy to see Mr. Reddi, who is active on Twitter. But when I brought this issue to his notice there was no response, hence I approached the FIR centre,” Mr. Jagan Kumar said.
