A city school has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police and the jurisdictional police station against a video being circulated in various social media platforms depicting an accident on stage during a performance by students, with the caption that nine children died during an annual day celebration.

A management member of Max Muller Public School in Basaveshwar Nagar said that while the video being circulated is genuine, the incident took place more than two years ago, and there were no deaths. “Children escaped with minor injuries and a teacher’s leg was fractured. But over the past 10 days, people are spreading false propaganda. We decided to file a police complaint to trace the source of this video,” he said.

The school has been flooded with phone calls regarding this incident. Private school associations have also been receiving calls from people from other countries to enquire about this incident, which compelled the school to lodge a police complaint.
