Comic heroes to descend in Bengaluru

Bangalore Comic Con to make a splash between April 3rd and 5th.

Get set to see Superman, Ironman and Nobita in namma Bengaluru. The stage is set for one of the biggest pop culture events of the country as Bangalore Comic Con will make a splash between April 3 and 5 here.

The attractions this time include exclusive book launches, autograph signings, cosplay, sessions by comic artistes and Skype conversations with best-selling writers. There will also be merchandise for sale by some of the best-known international manufacturers, including Kidrobot, Neca and Hot Toys.

The Indian comic book industry comprising 200 participants will be featured along the course of the event.

Some mesmerising acts will be TVF Live Out Loud, the popular Indian channel on Youtube, will perform some of their funniest acts along with two 45-minute performances by TVF Qtiyapa on April 4 and 5. A special gaming arena centred on DOTA 2 with a prize pool of Rs. 1.5 lakh will be set up besides multiple casual gaming competitions featuring FIFA 14 and Counter Strike GO.

The cosplay, one of the major attractions since Comic Con’s inception, will have five categories this year: Comic Book, Animated Series, Anime, Fantasy and Gaming. One winner from each category will be picked every day. Publishers HarperCollins, Amar Chitra Katha, Random House and umpteen others will have books up for display and sale.

Game of Thrones

Fans of ‘Game of Thrones’ are in for a treat this time. An official replica of the Throne has been procured for fans to take photographs with, exclusively for the Bangalore Comic Con. If this is not enough, Daniel Portman, better known as Podrick Payne from the Game of Thrones, will be at the event all three days to interact with fans.

Skype with the stars

Missed your favourite creators and artistes at the comic con? Then, Skype with them. Live Skype chats have been arranged for fans with Mark Millar (New York Times best-selling writer) on April 3, Vandana Verma (NASA Mars Rover driver) on April 4, and comic artiste Greg Capullo on April 5.

In addition, veteran comic writers Jason Latour and Paul Azaceta will be holding special sessions on all three days.
