Students from Karnataka swept the first three ranks for medical seats in the first ever online Postgraduate Entrance Test (PGET) conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Postgraduate Entrance Test (COMEDK), the results of which were announced on Thursday.
Rachel Althea Sequeira from Mangaluru, who topped the medical stream, said she was preparing for multiple examinations and devoted six to eight hours every day to her studies. She wants to specialise in General Medicine and said she would wait for the results of all the competitive exams before shortlisting her preferences.
Overall, as many as 8,199 (50 per cent) candidates in medical and 1,949 (44 per cent) candidates in dental, who have written the test held on January 17 across 72 cities, qualified for participating in the COMEDK seat selection process. Of these, 2,006 (24 per cent) candidates in medical and 300 (15 per cent) candidates in dental are from Karnataka.
A COMEDK release said the cut-off rank for a clinical seat in Medical PGET 2015 was 985, and 2,382 for the Dental PG programme (both general merit). The number of seats available, the tuition fees and counselling dates are expected to be notified soon.
