The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has announced the schedule for counselling for rank holders of the Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET).

According to a notification on its website, the counselling for medical and dental seats will be held from July 3 to 5, while for engineering it will be conducted from July 7 to 11. The counselling for architecture will be held on July 17.

Revised schedule

According to the Karnataka Examinations Authority’s (KEA) revised counselling schedule, the seat matrix is expected to be available on June 14, the option entry period is from June 15 to 20, and the real allotment of seats is on June 24. COMEDK chief executive A.S. Srikanth said the consortium had written to the government that any postponement in the KEA schedule would be the government’s responsibility and COMEDK would stick to its schedule as July 31 was the last date for admissions.

The notification added that the counselling schedule was drawn up “keeping the above dates in view and expecting the KEA to adhere to its schedule.” The counselling venue is the NMKRV College, Jayanagar. Students have been asked to “discourage touts and agents” in case they are approached. “This time there will be only one allotment; no provisional or confirmed allotment like last time. Medical seat aspirants will have to give their original marks card if they select a seat, those who select engineering seats through COMEDK will get back the originals. We have also made it mandatory for guardians and parents who accompany the candidates to also carry photo identity cards. We have observed that 73 per cent of the top 5,000 rank holders in medical are above the age of 18, so voter IDs will be necessary,” Mr. Srikanth said.
