College removed as exam centre

May 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

Following allegations of malpractice in the ongoing undergraduate exams, Bangalore University has decided to drop Sri Venkateshwara First Grade College in Madiwala as an exam centre. Nearly 455 students attached to the centre will now have to appear for the examination in S.S.R.M.V College.

K.N. Ninge Gowda, Registrar (evaluation) said they received anonymous letters tipping them off about malpractices following which two people were sent to monitor the centre. “On May 10, one student took 52 pages while on May 11 another took 44 pages to the exam centre,” he said. The two students have been debarred and a malpractice enquiry committee will decide the penalty.

In another case, a student was caught impersonating a B.Com student at V.V. Puram Arts and Commerce College. Both have been arrested and debarred.
