The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has been given a deadline of 15 days to fill all the potholes in the city.

The new deadline was set by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who inspected Mysuru Road, along with Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George and BBMP officials on Monday afternoon.

According to sources, the Chief Minister has directed the BBMP officials to fill the potholes even if it is raining. The BBMP officials has blamed the heavy rains lashing the city for the deplorable condition of Bengaluru’s roads and had maintained that the roads could be fixed only after the rains stopped. They had claimed that if roads are asphalted during the rains, it wouldn’t last.

However, after being pulled up recently by Mr. George, the BBMP officials decided to use cold mix, instead of hot mix, to asphalt the potholed roads.

Meanwhile, BBMP officials claimed that three ‘Python’ pothole fixing machines had been put to work in the city.

Over the past two weeks, three deaths have been reported on the potholed Mysuru Road.
