Club suspends IPS officer’s membership for a month

Bangalore Club has suspended the membership of Additional Director-General of Police (Railways) R.P. Sharma for one month, pending an inquiry into his alleged high-handed behaviour against two security guards at the club’s entrance on November 5.

The club has formed a committee to probe the incident, sources said. The decision to place the IPS officer’s membership under suspension was taken after prima facie evidence pointed to alleged objectionable behaviour on his part as reported by eyewitness Raghu Karnad and the security guards, sources in the club said. Mr. Sharma said he had received no communication from the club about the suspension of his membership. He also did not know of any inquiry being conducted against him at the club.
