Clear encroachments by December: Siddaiah

Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Siddaiah, on Monday, instructed the officials concerned of the BBMP to take steps against the encroachers of storm-water drains in the city.

Speaking at a meeting of zonal-level Additional Commissioners and Joint Commissioners and Chief Engineers, he said that till now BBMP had identified encroachments on storm-water drains in at least 900 places. Of these, 650 encroachments have been cleared.

Mr. Siddaiah asked the Zonal Additional Commissioners, Joint Commissioners and Chief Engineers to clear the remaining encroachments by the end of December.

Action will be initiated against the officials concerned if they failed to comply with the instructions, he said.

He instructed the officers to take the help of Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force and local police officers to clear the encroachments.
