The cleaner of a mini lorry was killed on the spot and the driver severely injured when the latter lost control of the vehicle and rammed a roadside electricity pole at Shivanahalli Circle in Rajajinagar here in the early hours of Monday.

Sampangi (45) and driver Periswamy were on their way from Kurubarahalli to Yeshwantpur to load old paper. The police said that poor visibility led to Periswamy to slam the vehicle into the electricity pole. The lorry came to rest after ramming the compound wall of the local Bescom office.

Passersby shifted the two to hospital where the doctors declared the cleaner as brought dead. Periswamy is said to be out of danger, Vijayanagar police said.
