Sunday morning saw civil and army personnel sprucing up the busy Outer Ring Road near Ejipura in Koramangala here.
The work on the two-kilometre stretch of the Outer Ring Road commenced at 7 a.m. in a joint initiative by the army personnel, residents and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) employees.
Shoulder drains were cleared, kerbstones were painted, footpath was reset and other public utility structures were painted by nearly 400 people.
About 250 personnel from the ASC Centre (North), led by the centre’s Deputy Commandant Col. S. Srivastav, joined BBMP workers, college students and volunteer-residents of Koramangala in the cleaning act, initiated by City Connect.

“We will be taking part in similar initiatives around the Cantonment area and Sunday’s work was part of Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area’s overall plan to cooperate with the civil authorities in Bangalore,” Col. Srivastav told The Hindu .
According to BBMP Chief Engineer (South) Siddegowda, vulnerable points on the stretch were identified and problems were fixed during the day.
“Though we undertake routine maintenance work, we took up this special drive to spruce up the road quickly,” he said.
The civic authority plans to take up roads in other zones too, he said and added: “They (army) want to extend their cooperation in the future too.”
He said that members of residents’ welfare association also participated in the cleanliness drive.
