City records 99.81 p.c. Pulse Polio coverage

As the Pulse Polio immunisation drive in areas coming under the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) ended on Wednesday, final figures from the BBMP claimed 99.81 per cent of children were covered.

As many as 5.43 lakh of the 6.5 lakh children below the age of five were administered polio drops on Sunday when the drive commenced. The remaining children were administered polio drops during house-to-house visits between Monday and Wednesday.

As the last day came to a close, out of the total estimated 6.5 lakh children, 6.49 lakh were administered the drops. The BBMP’s health department officials had visited 14.25 lakh houses. The second round of the Pulse Polio campaign will be conducted on February 23
