Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has been asked by the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Bangalore to appear before the court without fail during the next hearing on March 1.

Mr. Owaisi had been summoned by the court after a Bangalore advocate filed a case against him for stoking communal disharmony in his alleged hate speech in Andhra Pradesh. The court, which admitted a private complaint, had asked him to appear before it on Saturday but Mr. Owaisi failed to appear, citing health issues and his advocate filed an application seeking exemption. The court rejected the application and directed his advocate to ensure his client’s presence during the next hearing without fail.
