City Police Commissioner Raghavendra H. Auradkar has issued a ‘no objection’ notification for all bars and restaurants in the city to remain open till 1 a.m. on January 1, 2014.
Though establishments looking to hold new year’s eve celebrations need not individually apply for a no objection certificate, the police has ordered them to obtain permission from the Excise Department to keep their bars open during the additional hours.
The police order is also applicable to hotels and eateries that do not serve liquor. These establishments need not get permission from the Excise Department, the order says.
The order has instructed all establishments to ensure that “no nuisance or disturbance is caused to the neighbourhood on account of the celebrations.”
