Will apply for class 10 and 12 board exams from 2018-19 academic year

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has reduced the pass percentages for class ten and class twelve board exams. The new pass percentage will be effective from the 2019 examination onwards.

A press release by Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of the council, states that the pass marks for the ICSE exam (class ten) will be 33% instead of the existing 35%.

In the ISC examination (class 12), it will go down from the existing 40% to 35% . The council has asked schools to implement the revised pass marks in the internal examinations as well from the 2018-2019 academic year.

The objective of this, said Mr. Arathoon in the press release, is to have ‘a close uniformity with other boards in the country’. The move comes after the inter board working group had suggested that all boards across the country have the same pass mark criteria.
