The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is probing two cases of alleged sexual assault and criminal intimidation against seer of Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt Raghaveshwara Bharathi. Home Minister K.J. George told presspersons here on Thursday that the government would not interfere in the CID investigation. However, there had been a delay in filing the charge sheet owing to the lengthy probe at several places, he said.

In the latest case, the sexual assault victim submitted a petition to Women Safety Committee chairperson V.S. Ugrappa, Congress MLC, seeking justice, on Wednesday. In the petition, she alleged that the police inspector of the Girinagar police station here was soft-peddling the case against the seer.

The first case of sexual assault and criminal intimidation was booked against the seer after a woman, in her complaint to the Banashankari police here, alleged that her mother was sexually abused by the seer.
