Karnataka Chief Secretary K. Ratna Prabha on Saturday inspected the Indira Canteen at K.R. Market. The canteen is part of the flagship programme of the government to serve breakfast and meals at subsidised rates. She was accompanied by senior government and BBMP officials.

According to an official release, Ms. Ratna Prabha spoke to several people who were utilising the facility about the quality of food and how often they visited the canteen. One of the patrons suggested adding some more items to the menu. Another told her that it is much cheaper compared to restaurants in the vicinity.

Later, the Chief Secretary and BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad visited the kitchen on S.P. Road, which caters to the Indira canteens in the Chickpet Assembly constituency.

Ms. Ratna Prabha said, “I am very satisfied with the visit. I will note down all the suggestions and further improve the menu. The government will also look at building the capacity of the kitchens and the number of meals served at Indira canteens in BBMP wards whenever the demand increases.”
