The city police arrested two persons for allegedly providing manpower to Chhota Shakeel for suspected criminal activities in Andhra Pradesh.

The arrest follows the nabbing of four persons by the Hyderabad police.

The arrests followed a tip-off from the central intelligence agencies.

The men arrested here are Vinay and P. Subaiah Devaiah.

The police recovered Rs. 24.5 lakh from Vinay.

Tickets and Visas

The two allegedly mediated with Chota Shakeel's aide Altaf to send Pasham Sridhar (27), Koyi Saratchandra (39), Darshanam Pradeep Kumar (29) and Gaddam Pavan Kumar (38), all from Hyderabad, to Dubai.

The Hyderabad police caught the four before they could fly to Dubai to join Chhota Shakeel's gang in Dubai.

The Hyderabad police said Vinay had arranged air tickets and visiting visas for the four men to meet Altaf in Dubai and finalise the specific tasks to be carried out in Andhra Pradesh.

Although Vinay had told Altaf, is a native of Karnataka, that the four arrested men were Maoists, the Hyderabad police have not found any such links.

Men for mafia

According to a senior Andhra Pradesh police official, Vinay met the four in Hyderabad a few months ago while inquiring about real estate business ventures here. As he was recruiting for the mafia, he asked Pasham Sridhar if he was interested. Sridhar in turn introduced the other three.

When Vinay asked them to speak with Altaf over phone, Saratchandara introduced himself as Maoist Ramakrishna.

Altaf arranged Rs. 25 lakh as advance money, which was delivered through hawala transaction to Vinay in Hyderabad.

He paid Rs. 50,000 to the four and carried the remaining cash with him to Bangalore.
